Report: Govt says no ground for spikes in food prices in early 2022

MOSCOW, Dec 27 (PRIME) -- Measures taken by the Russian government and the harvest gathered by national farmers will prevent spikes in food prices at the beginning of 2022, Deputy Prime Minister Viktoria Abramchenko said in an interview with the Rossiya 24 TV channel on Monday.

“There is no ground for a spike in prices. The harvest is … very good,” Abramchenko said.

Abramchenko also said that this year’s high inflation was mostly an imported malaise, as food inflation rose by more than 30% this year on the global scale. At the same time, the measures taken by the government helped keep food inflation in Russia at 10–10.9%.
